No keyboard input

Esky controller, Heli-x 3.0 OS X 10.6.4 MBP 2.33GHz core duo.

Heli-x appears to be working fine, controller setup and functioning.
However, my keyboard inputs aren't working, I have mapped idle up keys to 1 and 2 on the keyboard but they do not work.
