Hi Arwin,

sorry for the late reply, I did oversee your question. On Mac there are sometimes problems with a voltage incompatibility between the USB interafce on the Mac and the hardware device. Then the interface is typically recogniced but does not work. In your case, even the USB interface is not recognized. This might due to software incompatibilies in the driver, problems with the plugs problems that the usb-interface is not given free by the oS (did you try to reboot you system?) ...

Hi,

I searched around the forum. Nobody told about a working solution for Mac with this trasnmitter, sorry.

When you try HELI-X you can open a console window first and start the script from the console. Then you can see the error messages ... (On Windows/Linux)

Hi,

this looks like Windows. I thought we are discussing about a Mac problem?

Arwin,

even I did not run the USB dongle UB-001 on OS-X -
but on Linux - the problem seems to be related to the dongle.
Under Linux it generates an error message during initialisation
"can't set config ..." and Linux did not start the joystick drivers.
It seems the USB-dongle do not fully comply to USB-standard
and same problem may exist on OS-X.

However, by chance I found a work-around.
When I connect/disconect the USB-dongle running Win-XP
via Vmware on the Linux Host, the dongle will be afterwards
correctly recognized on Linux and I could run Heli-X on
the Host OS.

Seems that Guest OS Win-XP is able to initialize the USB-dongle
and after disconnecting from Guest OS it behaves correctly
to the Host OS.

Maybe, you may have same luck with Parallels under OS-X.

Arwin,

the work-around with Vmware was always needed after each physical reconnection
(power up) of the dongle at the USB-port.

However, meantime I checked the potential work-around with Parallels on the
MacBook of my wife.

The dongle is identified as "Jean" device but it cannot be connected
(attached) to the virtual machine. A funny error message is popping
up from Parallels: "... please try later ...". To complete the trails
I also checked Vmware Fusion - no error message - but also no
success.

So, no luck with UB-001 on OS-X ... as said, I would blame UB-001.

I use http://shop.tomsrc.com/product_info.php ... cts_id=261 on my G5 iMac. No problems at all. Just select the correct adaptor connector. I note it no longer says "Mac" or "OS X" on the description, but you could send an email to ensure you get an interface that works.

PS It"s definitely worth using Heli-x. I've had only minor crashes. A broken link and some blade chips, and I am flying circuits after less than 3 hours on a collective pitch heli. (A few hours on micro helies and LOTS of time on Heli-x).

Does anyone already know whether this generic USB dongle works on OSX with the WK-2401?
