Which controller/smartpropo for mac?

I have a 2401 controller that I have working via smartpropo in windows, I have tried using txppm under ubuntu but it's too painful to get running.
Is there an equivalent to smartpropo on the mac or do I need a different controller (wouldn't work with USB lead).
What are others using?
