New to Heli-X

Hi,
I'm a newbie here and am able to play the demo with a cheap USB controller I purchased. I would like to use my Devo-7, but haven't purchased the USB trainer (UB-0001) cord yet.
Has anyone here successfully used this and got this to work with Heli-X? The cable costs $20, and before I order it, would like to confirm.
