USB ADC controller problems

Hi want to try this software but I can not get it to recognise the ADC controller. In the Black window where you see the software finding the controller it comes up with "Using Stick ADC" followed by a list of Analogue buttons found statements.
The Sim loads and gives me the sound of the model and this is aok but no controls work. I can pan around using keyboard arrows this all works but despite the software finding my controller it does not do anything.
Any ideas/
