Making blades/rotor disk more visible
I'm a newbie to RC helis and to Heli-X in particular.
I'm having difficulty (because I'm an "old fart" , seeing the rotor disk in hover training.
Is there any way to make the rotor disk more visible?
TIA,
Paolo

Re: Making blades/rotor disk more visible
Look for a model with rotor blades that have good visibility, e.g. one of the nightflight-models like HELIX600Night. Can be found in <path>\resources\models\helicopter\HELIX600Night - where <path> is the path to your Heli-X installation.
Take the files Mainrotor.mtl and Mainrotor.obj and copy them into the directory of your preferred model.
Start Heli-X and load your preferred model - you're done.
But keep in mind: you will run into the same problem again when flying real models. So it might be a good idea to train what we call "Lageerkennung" (don't know the english word for that) without a look at the rotating blades.

Re: Making blades/rotor disk more visible
Hi THomas,
thanks for that... Seemed simple enough, but when I moved the Helix600Night files to the Logo600 folder, the blade disk ended up in the middle of the helicopter.
Is it possible to adjust?

Re: Making blades/rotor disk more visible
Havent't tried this I must admit. File copy worked for the KDS 450SV and the Blade 130x, others I did not test. Maybe the file copy method is not the perfect solution. So probably Michael can help us out - let's wait for his comment...
Re: Making blades/rotor disk more visible
The way of Thomas is correct. You have then to adjust th second value of
MainrotorPosition
in the xml file of the helicopter.
Michael
MainrotorPosition
in the xml file of the helicopter.

Re: Making blades/rotor disk more visible
Hi Michael,
I changed the MainRotorPosition Value from "0,1,0" to "0,2,0" then to "0,10,0" all with NO effect. Am I changing the right thing?

Re: Making blades/rotor disk more visible
Had the time and tried it myself with the Logo600. Setting MainrotorPosition to 0,100,0 solved the problem. Small values have almost no visible effect. Please try 0,100,0 for the Logo600.

Thanks, Thomas!
Worked a treat!
Now I have a "real" heli to play with in the simulator, not some "science fiction" thing with blades rotating about the main fuselage...
