Slow frame rate

Post by dan »

I'm very interested to try out this simulator. Unfortunately I only get 0-1 frames per second. I have 10.5.5 as well as the java update 1 installed.

My computer is 2.2GHz dual core macbook pro with 4GB of ram and a 128MB geforce 8600M GT. I tried reducing the screen size and bit depth but it still stays at 0-1 fps.

Any ideas what this may be?

Thanks!

Yes, it can help to reduce the sizes of the textures. Please try the airport "small". Is the framerate better? If so, you should use airports where the textures are of size 1024 x 1024. You can reduce the pictures by yourself. Some scenes can be obtained at http://www.treichler.at

Hi,

I use HELI-X on a Mac Mini wit 2Ghz 1GB and 64MB shared Video RAM. By using smaller Scenes (1024x1024) and only 800x600 Window I get framerates about 40-70 fps.
So it is good usable on this machine. Fullscreen reduces the framerate to about 10 fps.

Try to close all other apps to be sure that the ressources are available to HELI-X, it should work on your machine!

PS: I would be very interested if the new version works on this HW too ..

Hi,

due to several reasons (internal tuning, better libraries), version 1.0 should run faster than version 0.9.

WIth HeliX 1.1 on my MacBook Pro, I get 173 frames per second (I think that's right, right -- the number on the very right in the window label).

This is now my favorite heli simulator on any platform!
