HELI-X5 on Snow Leopard

Post by phicoh »

I installed HELI-X5 (5.0.1405) on a MacBook running Snow Leopard (10.6.8) but there seems to be a bug in the menu system. Only the 'HELI-X' menu shows up, nothing else.

Needless to say, it is no very useful in this state.

Click into the main window and a menu bar inside the window will appear ...

Ah, that's the trick.

In my opinion, at at least on Snow Leopard, the user interface seems to be a major step backward compared to the previous version.

However, what is worse, it doesn't seem to work anymore. As soon as I try to spin up the blades and try to actually fly the whole thing becomes extremely unresponsive and essentially doesn't work anymore.

Fortunately, the previous version works extremely well.

Hardware Overview:

Processor Speed: 2.7 GHz
Number of Processors: 1
Total Number of Cores: 2

L3 Cache: 4 MB
Memory: 8 GB

Installed Heli-X 5 on OS X 10.9.1 no problem, on my MacBook Pro 17".

(Although OS X complained the developer was not registered: and so was hard to start, and it does not show in LaunchPad.)

I too could not see the menu and though it was broken, until I saw this post.

First off, love the full-screen. Really nice. Seems to run at more than 200 FPS, great!

But I can't configure my controller. Heli-X 4 was no problem, but Heli-X 5 does not see my left/right collective or rudder. Which means I cannot use it.

I look forward to trying it again when this issue has been addressed.

Open the HELI-X5.app folder. There are several jinput.jar. Rename them to find one the works with your hardware.

Michael,

Thanks, I renamed jinput-b8.jar to jinput.jar, and all worked.
