Odds are high that the problem is just once more that Mac OS does not properly recognize the device and power it correctly. It would not be the first USB device which fulfils the USB specs in a flakey...

There's the calibration dialog - there, all 6 channels are "live". There's one thing you should try: please make sure that you also use all switch channels during calibration (i.e., have them in all 2 or three positions) so Heli-X can figure out their range and values!
